The allure of getting a rare car offset the extended wait time vs. getting a new car from the local inventory. These days the car-buying landscape has dramatically changed. You may never again see rows of new cars to choose from, so if you want something specific, then buying directly from the factory is your best option. If one needs a car and can’t wait for a special order, then getting it from the vehicles available on the lot now is your best choice.
The enjoyable part of custom ordering is that you can select just the upgrades you want. You can order your vehicle with NAV, leather seating, and All-Wheel Drive, and it can be your lucky color: black! In the past, you might have compromised on your wishlist depending on the available stock of new cars. You may be able to get all of the tech you wanted, but it was just in a color you don’t like. Or they had AWD, but it had cloth seats instead of leather. If you custom order your next car, you get exactly what you want.
On the other hand, when you custom order your brand-new vehicle from the manufacturer, you don’t pay for the technology you don’t want. Perhaps you were looking for NAV and AWD but didn’t care about the color or leather seating. To be fair, you might not be able to order every option ala carte, yet by ordering your brand-new car, you can cut down on the unwanted options. Be sure to review the option packages, as they often have the most popular upgrades combined together.
